Although the weather was chilly and windy, the crowds poured into the small town of Solomons for their 32nd Annual Christmas Walk. The Solomons Christmas Walk was held starting Thursday 1st to Saturday 3rd, December 2016. It was celebrating the spirit of the holidays in the waterfront town. Every conceivable parking space was taken by diners and walkers.
There was a live nativity scene at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Santa was in the Gazebo, and the Otter was taking photos with youngsters. At the Catholic Church, there was a puppet show, a magic show with Reggie Rice, and on Saturday night a lighted boat parade. This year the Solomons Christmas Walk featured a Christmas Craft Market on Friday, Dec 2nd, 2016, 2 pm to 9 pm. There was a wide range of vendors of arts & crafts, food, clothing, and any items that made great Christmas gifts. St Peter’s Chapel had organ music and refreshments, and very welcoming place to get out of the wind for a few minutes and sit and listen to the music. The Calvert Marine Museum was bustling with activity with visitors checking out the gift shop.
The Christmas Walk Party was held on Thursday, December 1st at 6:30 pm at The Blue Heron Inn. Homes and businesses were traditionally decorated for the holiday season, transforming Solomons into a magical winter wonderland. And on Friday, December 2nd, Santa and his elf arrived by fire truck at 6:30 pm at the boardwalk pavilion. And the finale was the lighted boat parade on Saturday, December 3rd.
