The Southern Maryland Sierra Club promotes increased awareness of conservation issues and programs to support environmental stewardship by individuals, communities, and governmental agencies.
Volunteers of the Southern Maryland Sierra Club partnered with the Department of Parks & Recreation and Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Tree-mendous Program to plant 33 trees and shrubs at four public parks throughout Calvert County.
The Southern Maryland Sierra Club deserves recognition and praise from the citizens of Calvert County for selecting trees to provide shade for park-goers in the summer and nurture a healthy native bird population.
The Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) wished to pay tribute to the Southern Maryland Sierra Club for their contribution of volunteer time and energy to successfully complete this environmental stewardship project.
It was proclaimed by the Calvert Board of County Commissioners that the month of July be known as Plant a Tree Month in Calvert County. And it was further proclaimed by the BOCC that we extend our sincere appreciation to the Southern Maryland Sierra Club.
