Congratulations to Selena Antosh, from Calvert Middle School, for winning first place in the 28th Calvert County Spelling Bee. This year’s Spelling Bee marked Selena’s second consecutive first place win.
The second place winner was Rachel Carson, also from Calvert Middle School. The faculty coach for both spellers is CMS teacher Lucia Poole.
Selena will now represent Calvert County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., in May.
The Spelling Bee is an annual event sponsored by The Calvert Recorder and Calvert County Public Schools. Nine public and private schools were represented by 53 spellers in the event.
