A captivating narrative portraying everyday life at a battlefield hospital in France during WWI inspired by letters of nurses sent home during the war
- Nurses were Johns Hopkins graduates from Maryland and served with Hopkins Base Hospital 18 stationed in France from 1917-1919
- The narrative describes the challenges these nurses faced in taking care of battlefield wounds as well as an insiders’ view of their everyday life from the intense winters which froze medicines to exhaustion and overcrowding of their facility, all while ‘taking care of their boys.’
- Schoettler will present a slide show complementing the narration immediately following her presentation at Chesapeake Beach Town Hall
