The Team Excellence award recognizes employees who have excelled as a group and displayed cooperation and teamwork in support of a common goal or project. This team was being recognized for their outstanding effort to coordinate Calvert County’s display at the Maryland Association of Counties (MACO) Summer 2018 Conference, which included interesting artifacts, interactive elements, fun giveaways, and professional quality display panels. Calvert County was well represented by the efforts of this cross-department team.

On Tuesday, November 27, 2018, the Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) presented the team, who put together the MACo Summer Conference 2018 display, to the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Each was presented a framed certificate for the job well done. The hit of the award was Rex, the male tortoise, who attended the meeting on a leash. According to Sherrod Sturrock, Rex was a hit at MACo. He is representative as the Maryland State reptile.
