The Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) announced the Detention Center Midnight Paint Crew was selected for a Team Excellence Award. The team included the following employees:
CDC Shawn Brooks and CDFC Aaron Cook
The ERC was created on January 1, 1982 and is responsible for recognizing Calvert County employees for outstanding performance. One way this is done is through the team Excellence Awards.
The two Correctional Deputies First Class, Shawn Brooks and Aaron Cook, are highly dedicated to the efficient and safe operation of the Calvert County Detention Center. They dutifully perform their daily tasks while systematically improving overall operations through their hard work and dedication.
While both are assigned to the midnight shift, they not only perform their security duties, but they go above and beyond to maintain and improve the facility. They assist the day shift by making sure supplies are stocked. This enables the day shift to deal with more pressing issues. When staffing allows, they supervise an ongoing paint detail.
With their oversight the past year, this detail has painted the entire interior of the Detention Center, resulting in a significant cost savings to the County, according to Major Reece.
CDFC Shawn Brooks ad CDFC Aaron Cook serve as role models to the staff of the Calvert County Detention Center and as mentors to the younger deputies. They set the bar very high for staff performance.
On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, CDFC Brooks and CDFC Cook were presented to the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).
