Joan Thorp
The Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) forwarded the nomination of Joan T Thorp for Employee of the Month for May 2015 to the Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Joan is the Deputy Director of the Finance and Budget Department.

Department out of the courthouse and the FY2016 Budget. Both required 24/7 devotion to the job. She was able to keep the budget process on track while the budget analyst position was vacant. Joan led the small group for the compilation of the data and summarization of this data. She worked hard to make sure the new budget ledgers would be accurate and available on July 1, 2015. Joan put in time, making the published document better, while being responsive to the citizens and commissioner input, improving 
the experience for the end user. To accomplish this, she put in many nights and weekends.
Joan has developed a good working relationship with all the county departments and was able to assist them with their budget needs. She ensures that her department is running well.
At the BOCC meeting on May 12, 2015, Joan was presented with a check and a certificate, acknowledging her for dedication and hard work.
