To Quell a Rumor on Delivery to Dominion

2015-06-13

Calvert County Sheriff's OfficeOn Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at approximately 3:23 pm, a truck carrying supplies for Dominion Cove Point had trouble negotiating the turn from Cove Point Road into the Dominion plant. It was not a ‘heavy haul’ as some have said but just a regular delivery.

It took the truck several tries, backing up and moving forward to finally negotiate the entrance. According to Captain Steve Jones, it took approximately 6 ½ minutes to clear the road. He also said there was no accident, just needed to straighten out the trailer to move through the entrance.

Karl Neddenien, Media Relations and Community Relations Manager Dominion Cove Point LNG, said “we regret the inconvenience caused by the brief road closure.” When asked why Dominion doesn’t widen the road at the entrance to the plant, he explained it is because of the conditions of the many environmental permits that apply to the Dominion Cove Point facility.
