On Friday, June 9, 2017, under sunny skies, with a nice breeze blowing, men and women gathered at Chesapeake Hills Golf Course to raise funds for Arick L Lore American Legion Post 274. Rules for the tournament were read by Tim Hepler, General Manager of Chesapeake Hills Golf Course and Jon Baki, organizer of the tournament for American Legion Post 274 in Lusby. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem, it was time to play golf.
This year there were thirty eight teams registered, with 148 participants. With so many teams playing, they still managed to finish the tournament by 3:30 pm and headed off to the American Legion Post 274 for a roast beef dinner.
There were a lot of door prizes and silent auction items. All the door prizes had a number assigned to them and Joyce Baki called out the ticket numbers and the holder of the winning ticket got to draw a door prize number out of the bucket.
Of course the teams wanted to know who won the closest to the pin contests, best scores, longest drives, and cluster putt winners and they were announced as follows:
Cluster Putt – D R Ross
1st Place Team
2nd Place Team
3rd Place Team
Closest to the Pin Contests:
Hole #2 – Brian Vaeth
Hole #4 – Tom Mattingly
Hole #13 – Greg Wise
Hole #16 – Art Leon
