On September 12, 2018, with rain and drizzle happening off and on, volunteers fanned out over Calvert County to assist nonprofits with needed repairs and help. Christmas in April*Calvert County chose Friendly Health Services (Adult Day Care Services) for their volunteers. Christmas in April*Calvert County Sponsored the project.
Volunteers working and donating included the following:
McCrea’s Heating and Air Conditioning, Friendly Health Services volunteers and staff, Victoria Lodge 71 Masonic Temple, Cave to Castle Remodeling, Dominion Cove Point, Exelon Generation, Artic Snow Removal, Harvest Fellowship Presbyterian Church, Floor Systems, Frank Wheatley Dry Wall, Paul Hayden and Sons Plumbing and United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission ( retired). Shawn McGowan donated a flat screen television for the recreation area. Exelon Generation provided lunch for all the volunteers.
The following is a list of the work done by the volunteers at Friendly Health Services (Adult Day Care)
- Replace fluorescent light fixtures with LED lighting
- Replace ceiling tiles
- Exterior and interior painting
- Replace fluorescent light fixtures
- Repair bathrooms (install new tile & ADA toilet, replace lighting and paint)
- Replace heat pump
- Yardwork/Landscaping (mulching and trimming of weeds and bushes)
- Construct picnic tables
It was a very productive day getting the recreation area renovated for the seniors.
