The State led Juvenile Justice Reform Council is hosting a Listening Session at the Harriet E. Brown Community Center on Thursday, January 16th from 1:30-3:30pm and 6:30-8:30pm to hear from youth, families, individuals, service providers, educators, etc., that were influenced by the juvenile justice system. The Council is looking for feedback on challenges with the system and suggestions for reform. If you have ideas you’d like to share or know of a community member that may like to testify, please share this information. The event is free and open to the public. Those wishing to speak can register 30 minutes prior to the session and will be able to speak for 3 minutes. The 2020 Census seeks a complete count to determine congressional representation, planning data, and Calvert County’s share of federal funding ($1800 per person/per year). The form is brief, answers are confidential and cannot be shared with anyone. It will be conducted beginning in mid March. Congregational support will greatly improve this effort.
