The Chesapeake Water Environment Association (CWEA) and the Chesapeake Section of the American Water Works Association (CSAWWA) hosted their annual joint spring meeting and technical seminar on May 15, 2015.
Each year a water taste test competition is held and the winner receives a trophy along with a year’s bragging rights.
The competition is broken down into two categories for source water: ground water and surface water. Organizations are invited from around the state to enter the competition. Eighteen different agencies submitted water samples. The 
samples were judged by an impartial panel made up of event staff and agencies not submitting samples.
The Calvert County Water and Sewerage Division submitted a single entry in the ground water category. The sample was taken from the kitchen on the first floor of the County Services Plaza. Based on the judged results, Calvert County won first place in the ground water category. This is the second time they have won first place in the competition.
