The Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) is pleased to announce that Jessicca Gaetano, Zoning Enforcement Specialist, Planning & Zoning, was selected as the December 2018 Employee of the Month.
The criteria for Employee of the Month recognition award acknowledges individual excellence for superior job performance and/or special individual efforts that go above and beyond the employee’s normal job duties in the areas of:
- Respect of fellow employees (integrity, work ethic, team spirit, and attitude)
- Quality of work (knowledge, experience, organization, effectiveness of communication, problem solving abilities)
- Quantity of work (initiative, industry, perseverance)
- Contributions toward improving organizational morale (positivity, internal and external customer service)
- Actions that improve public image of county government
Jessicca Gaetano began her career with Calvert County Government as an hourly employee at the Hall Aquatic Center. Next she was hired by Inspections & Permits as an Electrical Permits Technician, a job that some (including the Planning & Zoning Department Head) believe is the most difficult Tech position to learn. In February 2018, she was promoted to the positon of Zoning Enforcement Specialist where she quickly got up to speed with those new job responsibilities.
Jess is very conscientious about completing her work accurately and efficiently. Since February, on days Inspections and Permits (I&P) was short-staffed, Jess voluntarily took time to help provide office coverage so that the Inspections and Permits Staff could take a lunch break and to provide general assistance not only to her replacement, but the entire division. She made sure to pass on many tips and tricks to the new tech and showed her the processes that had been created for that position to help streamline the work.
Jess always made sure her work was caught up, checked with her supervisor and notified the P&Z office staff of where she would be. Jess is sincerely dedicated to being a team player. She consistently has a positive attitude and goes above and beyond to provide great internal and external customer service. Jessicca promised she would not forget her peers in I&P, and that she would assist them to the fullest. She has more than kept this promise.
Jessicca is an asset to Calvert County Government to the Department of Planning & Zoning and is deserving of recognition as Employee of the Month.
The Calvert Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) presented Jessicca with a framed certificate and a check.
